What if a case I need is not found in GovLink?
Most existing cases are located in GovLink, but on the rare occasion that you’re looking for an older case that pre-dates GovLink, simply send a message in our chat bubble providing the county and civil action number and we’ll get that case added for you! Most requests can be added in less than 5 minutes!
How do I search for a case by the $tars case number?
Searching by the $tars case number is easy! From the Court Cases tab, click My Cases then Advanced Filters. Enter the $tars case number in the $tars box provided and click Search from the top of the page. While we wish all cases could be searched by the $tars number, only cases have ever been filed into through GovLink will be searchable by the $tars case number.
Can I delete or change a filing that I just submitted?
Well…. unfortunately, no. While disappointing, it’s with good purpose. Once submitted, your filing is immediately sent over to the court and changes or deletions cannot be made. It’s sort of like when the mail carrier has picked up your mail and it’s already in route or has arrived at the recipient. We can’t get it back. If you find yourself in this situation, contact the clerk of court.
Why is the file button grayed out?
Well, this can happen for a few reasons. (1)If you see a red exclamation point next to the gray file button, hover over it. It’s a helpful hint that will tell you what you’re missing. (2)Make sure the attorney you’ve selected on this filing has granted permission to your account to eFile on their behalf. Get their permission and you’ll be all set!
How do I delete a filing?
Did you initially create it? Only the initial creator will have the ability to delete the filing. Is the filing still in an Unfiled status or was it rejected? Only unfiled or rejected filings can be deleted. If you can answer yes to both of these questions, click on the filing and go back to Step 1. You’ll see a Delete button in the bottom left of the filing stepper.
The service document I filed is missing a file stamp. Why?
When submitting an executed service form, be sure to select the document type of Sheriff’s Return of Service. While Sheriff’s Entry of Service seems appropriate due to the title on the form, this type is reserved for an unexecuted service form and will not receive a file stamp.
When is a summons and initiation form generated for me and when is it not?
Great question! The majority of courts in Georgia use PeachCourt as their eFiling provider. PeachCourt will generate a new summons and civil initiation form when you are filing a brand new case. PeachCourt will not generate a new summons when you are filing into an existing case. If you need a summons in an existing case, you will need to create and upload your own.
Currently, non-PeachCourt counties using GovLink include Cherokee, Clayton, Lowndes, and Spalding. You will need to upload your own for these four counties as the court’s eFiling provider does not automatically generate these forms.
I’m an attorney. How do I grant permission to other users to eFile on my behalf?
As an attorney, in just a few simple clicks, you can grant permission to other users to allow them to submit documents to the court on your behalf. Here’s how! Click on your initials in the top right corner and choose Permissions. Expand the eFile category and click the icon. Select the user you’d like to grant permission to and click Save. Boom! You’re all set!
