Docket IDs! Why are they important to GovLink?
- They ensure CALO messages will deliver into LASES with no errors.
- They create the GovLink court case record allowing subsequent filings to be filed into the existing case from the Court Cases tab.
- They link all GovLink filings into one court case record for easy viewing of all filings in the case from the Court Cases search regardless of the filing status.
- They generate on the GovLink templates imported from the document library.
How should Docket IDs be entered into GovLink?
- When starting a NEW CASE (new to GovLink) filing, always include the existing Docket ID on Step 1 during the Import Data action.
- When marking a submitted filing as ACCEPTED for a case the court has now assigned a Docket ID to, enter the Docket ID on Step 6 after clicking ACCEPTED.
Don’t forget! The Docket ID should ALWAYS match identically to the Docket ID entered in LASES. Capitalization, spaces, dashes, commas, and leading zeros all matter. It must be an IDENTICAL match.
